Youth Trapped in Uppal Skywalk Lift for Over Two Hours, Rescued Safely
Delay in response from maintenance staff alleged as rescue teams struggle to open stalled lift
Hyderabad: A young man was left in panic after getting trapped inside a lift at the Uppal skywalk on Thursday night.
The victim, Rahul (20), who stays at Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Boys Hostel in Uppal and works at a private firm, was returning to his hostel after duty when the incident occurred. While descending in the 6B skywalk lift, it suddenly stalled midway, leaving him stuck inside.
Upon receiving information, HYDRA officials, Uppal police and fire personnel rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. It took over two hours of effort to open the lift doors.
Finally, a technician managed to safely rescue Rahul at around 1:15 am.
Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced that the delay in rescue operations was due to the lack of timely response from Krishna Constructions staff, who are responsible for lift maintenance, and HMDA officials.
