Nalgonda: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Thursday directed officials to ensure quality healthcare services in government hospitals that meet public satisfaction, during a surprise inspection at the Government General Hospital in Khammam.

He reviewed the ongoing construction of the Critical Care Unit and interacted with patients and attendants to assess medical facilities.

Stating that there was no scope for negligence in patient care, the minister sought details from medical officials on services, infrastructure, cleanliness and availability of medicines. He said providing better healthcare remained a primary objective of the state government.

He instructed officials to ensure timely treatment and avoid inconvenience to patients and attendants. Doctors were asked to communicate with patients to instil confidence.

The minister also directed authorities to expedite the Critical Care Unit works and strengthen sanitation measures, including preventing water stagnation and maintaining a litter-free environment. He asked officials to repair internal roads and keep them free of potholes.

He suggested planting colourful saplings along the main approach road to the hospital.

Rayala Nageswara Rao, Puvvalla Durga Prasad, hospital superintendent Dr Narender and health department officials were present.
