Traffic Curbs in Old City for Muharram Procession

 Hyderabad: City traffic police have imposed restrictions and diversions in the Old City on Friday from 12 noon to 10 pm in view of the Tenth Muharram procession from Bibi-ka-Alawa.

Joint commissioner of police (traffic), D. Joel Davis, advised commuters to take alternative routes. He asked citizens to track updates on the Hyderabad traffic police Facebook page and @HYDP on Twitter, and contact the helpline 9010203626 in case of emergencies.

Traffic towards Bibi-ka-Alawa will be diverted at Sunargalli T Junction towards Dabeerpura Darwaza and Ganganagar Nala, Yakutpura. Traffic towards Shaik Faiz Kaman will be diverted at Jabbar Hotel towards Dabeerpura Darwaza or Chanchalguda.

Traffic from Etebar Chowk towards Bada Bazaar will be diverted towards Kotla Alijah or Purana Haveli. When the procession reaches Ganganagar Nala, traffic from Purani Haveli towards Etebar Chowk will be diverted towards Chatta Bazaar, Dabeerpura or SJ Rotary.

Traffic from Moghalpura and Volta Hotel towards Etebar Chowk will be diverted at Bibi Bazaar crossroads towards Paris Cafe or Talab Katta. Traffic from Mitti-ka-Sher and Madina will be diverted at Gulzar Houz.

At Kotla Alijah, traffic from Moghalpura water tank will be diverted at Hafez Danka Mosque towards Paris Cafe or Bibi Bazaar. At Charminar, traffic from Shakkarkote will be diverted at Mitti-ka-Sher towards Ghansi Bazaar or Chelapura, while traffic at Etebar Chowk will be diverted towards Kotla Alijah or Purani Haveli.

Traffic from Nayapul towards Charminar will be diverted at Madina crossroads towards City College. When the procession reaches Miralam Mandi, traffic from Chaderghat Rotary, Noorkhan Bazaar, Salar Jung Museum and Shivaji Bridge will be diverted at Salar Jung Rotary.

At Alawa Sartauq, traffic from Chaderghat will be diverted towards Ranga Mahal or Koti via Chaderghat bridge. Vehicles from Gowliguda and Afzalgunj towards Salar Jung or Shivaji Bridge will be diverted at the bridge entrance.

Traffic towards SJ Rotary will be diverted at Nayapul towards Madina when the procession reaches Alawa Sartauq.

APSRTC and TGSRTC district buses will be diverted towards Ranga Mahal and Afzalgunj for entry and exit between 10 am and 9 pm and will not ply on Kalikabar and Miralam Mandi roads until the procession concludes.
