Relief to Private Colleges as HC Stays Key GO No. 9 Terms Over Fee Reimbursement
Court seeks timeline on dues; govt says arrears to be cleared by August 15
Hyderabad: In a relief to private college managements, the Telangana High Court has stayed certain provisions of GO No. 9 until Tuesday, June 30.
During the hearing, the court questioned the state government over the delay in fee reimbursement to colleges. It asked how institutions are expected to function without the release of pending arrears and sought details on the budget allocated for reimbursement and timelines for clearing dues.
The advocate representing the government informed the court that all pending reimbursement arrears would be cleared before August 15. Responding to this assurance, the counsel for private colleges stated that the petitions would be withdrawn if the dues are paid as promised.
An implead petition was also filed on behalf of students. The counsel representing students argued that they were caught between college managements and the government and urged the court to ensure that students do not suffer due to pending reimbursements.
The government’s counsel further stated that the Advocate General would present detailed arguments on the next hearing. The court subsequently adjourned the matter to June 30.
