Transport Department to Enforce “No Entry for Brokers” Policy
Officials told to enforce ‘No Entry for Brokers’ policy and clear delays in RC and DL services
Hyderabad: The joint transport commissioner, vigilance and enforcement, has issued a circular to the joint transport commissioner, Hyderabad zone, and all deputy transport commissioners and district transport officers in the state, directing them to identify and remove touts or brokers operating in and around office premises and strictly enforce a ‘No Entry for Brokers’ policy.
The department has cautioned that strict action, including disciplinary proceedings, will be taken against any official or staff member found compromising the integrity of citizen services or colluding with brokers or agents.
All field offices have been directed to submit a compliance report within seven days. The department has reiterated its commitment to transparent, hassle-free and corruption-free citizen services and has urged the public to report any instance of broker interference or demand for illegal gratification directly to the vigilance and enforcement wing.
The department mentioned that it is taking serious note of media reports highlighting broker or agent interference. When the reports on illegal slot-booking rackets and technical glitches in online services at various RTA or RTO offices across the state came to light, the transport department swung into action with immediate directions to all field-level authorities.
The reports had pointed out that citizens applying for registration certificates and driving licences were facing undue delays despite completing all formalities and payments, while brokers were reportedly charging Rs 500 to 800 per slot for online bookings that ought to be freely accessible to the public. Instances of agents openly operating outside office premises at Khairatabad, Malakpet, Bandlaguda, Kondapur and Tirumalagiri were also brought to light.
The authorities directed to clear pending RC and DL applications stuck due to technical issues on the Sarathi and Vahan portals and rectify glitches in the online slot-booking system in coordination with the NIC and state data centre. Authorities also asked to sensitize counter staff on the correct functioning of online modules so that genuine applicants are not turned away and initiate disciplinary action against any official found colluding with brokers, fixing personal accountability.
