 HANAMKONDA: Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) has won two prestigious national-level awards in recognition of its adoption of advanced technology, improved consumer services, and excellence in operations.

The awards — Adopting AI in Energy Award and the South India PSU and Governance Excellence Award — recognise the power utility’s initiatives in technology-driven energy management and governance.

On Tuesday, TGNPDCL directors V. Tirupati Reddy, T. Madhusudhan, and C. Prabhakar, along with chief general manager Surender and company secretaries, presented the awards to TGNPDCL chairman and managing director (CMD) Karnati Varun Reddy at the Vidyut Bhavan in Nakkalagutta of Hanamkonda.

Company secretary K. Venkatesham received the South India PSU and Governance Excellence Award at an event organised by Times Aspire in Bengaluru on September 9. Chief Engineer Surender received the Adopting AI in Energy Award at an event organised by The Economic Times on September 10.

CMD Varun Reddy said the company is implementing several technology-driven initiatives, including an AI-based feeder outage prediction model, drone-based monitoring of power assets, real-time feeder management, GIS monitoring, and an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot.

He said the awards are recognition of the collective efforts of the company’s officials, engineers, and employees in improving operational efficiency and customer services.
