Distribution of Rajanna Kodelu Resumes in Vemulawada

Karimnagar: Distribution of kodelu (bulls) from the Vemulawada temple goshala resumed on Tuesday, with 193 pairs distributed to eligible farmers on the first day.

Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas and district collector Garima Agarwal distributed the bulls to farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas said problems had cropped up when kodelu were given to voluntary organisations.

He said the state government had constituted a committee under the supervision of the collector to ensure transparent distribution of bulls to poor, small and marginal farmers. Applications were being received online and kodelu distributed to eligible farmers.

On the goshala, Srinivas said a modern facility would be constructed on the lines of the Enkepalli goshala near Moinabad in Ranga Reddy district. He said 45 acres of land had been identified within Vemulawada limits for the purpose.

It was also decided to appoint a separate veterinary doctor for the temple. Srinivas said a proposal had been sent to the government following discussions between the temple executive officer and the Collector, and the appointment would be made soon.

An acre of land has been identified to provide treatment to sick kodelu by keeping them separately.

Efforts were also being made to deploy medical staff to provide treatment to devotees and conduct special medical camps, he said.

Collector Garima Agarwal appealed to devotees not to leave young and sick kodelu on the temple premises. She advised devotees to approach the goshala organisers and hand over the kodelu to them.
