Hyderabad:Telangana recorded the highest growth in GST collections among states at 18 per cent in September 2026 compared to the corresponding month last year, collecting Rs 5,327 crore against Rs 4,512 crore in September 2025, according to data released by the Centre on Thursday. The growth was higher than the national average of 14.7 per cent.

The state’s SGST collections, including the SGST portion of IGST, settled to Telangana, stood at Rs 4,402 crore in September 2026 against ₹3,870 crore in September 2025, registering 14 per cent growth. Before IGST settlement, SGST collections increased by 18 per cent from Rs 1,693 crore to Rs 2,002 crore during the period.

During the first half of the current financial year (April-September 2026), Telangana’s post-settlement SGST collections rose 18 per cent to Rs 26,287 crore from Rs 22,231 crore in the corresponding period of 2025. Pre-settlement SGST collections increased 15 per cent from Rs 10,859 crore to Rs 12,434 crore.

The number of GST registrations in the state also increased from 2,64,359 in 2025-26 to 3,28,812 by September 2026. Combined CGST, SGST and IGST collections rose from Rs 16,618 crore to Rs 17,147 crore during the period, registering 3.2 per cent growth.

Telangana’s commercial tax collections also grew 15 per cent in September, rising to Rs 7,303 crore from 6,368 crore in September 2025, according to the data released by the commercial taxes department on Thursday.

Of this, GST collections accounted for Rs 4,184 crore, up 15 per cent from Rs 3,648 crore. VAT collections from petrol and liquor increased 15 per cent to Rs 3,045 crore from Rs 2,645 crore, while professional tax collections declined marginally to `74 crore from `77 crore.

In the first half of 2026-27, commercial tax collections rose 16 per cent to Rs 44,372 crore from Rs 38,269 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. GST collections increased 19 per cent to Rs 25,099 crore from Rs 21,061 crore, while VAT on petrol and liquor rose 13 per cent to Rs 18,824 crore from Rs 16,708 crore. Professional tax collections remained unchanged at Rs 499 crore.
