Inter First-Year Students To Face 20% Internal Assessment
The CVR will apply from the 2026–27 academic year, and colleges have been directed to follow them while implementing the revised assessment pattern.
Hyderabad:First-year Intermediate students in Telangana will have 20 per cent of their marks assessed internally from the 2026–27 academic year, with the remaining 80 per cent allocated to theory examinations, wherever applicable, under a revised assessment pattern introduced by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE).
The Board has revised the first-year intermediate textbooks and assessment system with changes aimed at improving conceptual understanding, activity-based learning and continuous assessment.
To ensure that colleges follow the new system uniformly, TGBIE has issued common validation rules (CVR) covering the conduct, assessment, recording and submission of internal assessment marks. The Board has also issued frequently asked questions to clarify the revised system for colleges.
The changes are intended to give greater weight to students’ learning during the academic year rather than relying only on the final theory examination. TGBIE said the reforms seek to promote critical thinking, reasoning, continuous learning, creativity, problem-solving and skills needed for future education and employment.
