Telangana Minister Extends Financial Aid to Family of Murdered Dalit Woman

Karimnagar:Welfare minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar on Tuesday handed over an ex gratia cheque of Rs 4.12 lakh to the family of Karre Sunitha, a Dalit woman who was murdered recently at Chintalapet in Metpally mandal.

The minister visited the bereaved family and presented the cheque to the victim’s grandmother, Karre Chinnakka, on behalf of the state government.

Expressing concern over the welfare of Sunitha’s two sons, the minister said the government would bear the responsibility for their education. He said the children would be admitted to Social Welfare residential educational institutions and provided support until they completed higher education.

Lakshman Kumar also directed officials to expedite the sanction of an Indiramma house for the family and instructed the district administration to complete the necessary formalities without delay.

Addressing the media, the minister said the first instalment of Rs 4.12 lakh had been released as per government norms and that the second instalment of compensation would be paid after the filing of the chargesheet.

He said the government was committed to ensuring justice for the victim’s family and asserted that those responsible for crimes against Dalits and tribals would face legal action, irrespective of their influence or social standing.
