RTC Bus Hijacked from Korutla Bus Stand, Man Held After Police Chase

According to the police, the bus driver alerted RTC the authorities after noticing the vehicle being taken away. The police were informed.

 Karimnagar: A man hijacked a TGSRTC bus from the Korutla bus stand on Tuesday and was arrested after a police chase that ended near the Jagtial–Nizamabad border.

The bus, which was scheduled to pick up students from Kalluru Model School, was parked at Platform 9 of the Korutla bus stand when the accused allegedly got onto the driver’s seat and drove it away.

According to the police, the bus driver alerted RTC the authorities after noticing the vehicle being taken away. The police were informed.

While driving towards Nizamabad, the bus allegedly collided with four vehicles, injuring a few people.

Police first attempted to intercept the bus near Arepeta on the outskirts of Metpally. However, the hijacker allegedly rammed a police vehicle and continued with his adventure.

A second attempt was made by the police by placing a lorry across the road near the Gandhi Hanuman Temple on the Jagtial–Nizamabad border. While trying to avoid the obstruction, the accused drove the bus off the road and it got stuck in a pit.

The accused got out and fled the spot but was chased and arrested by the police.

Police identified the accused as Kandula Samabaiah, a native of Dharmapuri in Jagtial district. According to the police, he was under the influence of alcohol.
