Telangana: Gang Attacks Family In Karimnagar, Flees With Gold, Silver, Cash

KARIMNAGAR: Close on the heels of the PMJ jewellery theft, another robbery in Karimnagar town late on Tuesday night has stunned the city.
A gang of eight sneaked into a house and fled with gold and silver ornaments as also cash after thrashing and threatening the family members with fake pistols and knives.
According to the police, an aged person Azmat Ali along with his wife and two daughters stayed on the first floor of the building near Bhagathnagar statue. Azmat would switch off lights on the ground floor before going to bed shortly after midnight every day.
As usual, Azmat Ali came out of the first floor to switch off the light around midnight on Tuesday. The gang waiting in the corridor caught him and took him inside by closing his mouth with a cloth.
The men thrashed him on his face and head, and tied his hands and legs with ropes. His wife and daughters were also thrashed by the gang, threatening the family with fake pistols and knives. They were all tied up and silenced.
The gang fled with 66 tolas of gold, 10 tolas of silver ornaments and `21 lakh in cash.
Neighbours opened the doors when the family raised an alarm. The victims said the gang snatched gold chains from their necks, removed rings from their fingers, cut off their earrings and took away the entire jewellery.
Before leaving the home, the victims were locked in a room after taking away their mobile phones.
The gang stole two bikes from the parking place and fled on the Vemulawada bypass road.
Police subsequently reached the spot and began an investigation by taking visuals from CCTV cameras fixed in nearby localities to identify and track the movements of the gang. Video footage of miscreants fleeing on bikes was released.
Police commissioner Gaush Alam visited the spot. Informing the family that special teams have also been deployed to trace the gang, he expressed confidence to catch the accused soon.
Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar spoke to the commissioner over phone.
Azmat suspects the role of his elder son-in-law, who recently left the home after quarrelling with them and started staying in Uttar Pradesh. The Hindi conversation of the miscreants was in north Indian slang.
