BRS leaders themselves exposing party's corruption, says MLA

Station Ghanpur: Former deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari said on Tuesday the Congress government would complete the Gandi Ramaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and ensure that Godavari water reaches every village in Velair mandal, providing irrigation for two crops annually.

Addressing gatherings after inaugurating a series of development works in Maddelagudem and Velair villages, the Station Ghanpur MLA alleged that BRS leaders, who had "looted Telangana" during their decade in power, were now attempting to mislead farmers and the public.

The MLA inaugurated CC roads and Indiramma houses constructed at a cost of Rs 43.40 lakh in Maddelagudem. Later, in Velair, he inaugurated CC roads worth Rs 45 lakh, a school compound wall built at a cost of Rs 22.30 lakh, and a Village Organisation (VO) building constructed for Rs 10 lakh.

Srihari announced that foundation stones for the new MRO and MPDO offices would be laid within a month, stating that Rs 4.20 crore had already been sanctioned for their construction.

He said the government had sanctioned Rs 8 crore for the Velair–Kommugutta double road, Rs 4.50 crore for the Velair–Shalapalli BT road, and Rs 13 crore for HAM road development works. All the projects, he said, would be completed within the next ten months.

The MLA also pronised residents that an additional 20 Indiramma houses would be sanctioned for Maddelagudem and promised further development works in the village.

Referring to the prevailing dry spell caused by the El Nino phenomenon, Srihari advised farmers to opt for drought-resistant crops while the government was making every effort to bring Godavari waters through the Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme wherever feasible.

Launching a political attack on the BRS, Srihari alleged that the previous government was involved in large-scale corruption and claimed that BRS leaders themselves were accusing one another over the alleged diversion of Rs 1,400 crore into party funds and irregularities in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.

He said the Congress government was committed to transparent governance and public welfare and urged the people not to be misled by false propaganda.
