ADILABAD: Ichoda police registered a case against tenant farmer Atram Chandrabhan, 41, after a lorry cleaner died allegedly after coming into contact with a live electric wire erected around an agricultural field in Gandhari village of Neredigonda mandal.

Police said Chandrabhan had allegedly erected the live wire to protect his standing crops from wildlife.

The deceased was identified as Rupesh Kumar, 21, of Bihar. He was a lorry cleaner and allegedly came into contact with the live wire while moving through the agricultural fields cultivated by Chandrabhan.

A few days ago, Rupesh Kumar and lorry driver Avadhesh were travelling from Raipur to Hyderabad when their lorry hit a tanker at Kupti bridge, where repair works were also under way.

Police said the two escaped from the scene fearing that some workers might have been killed in the accident.
