Warangal: Differences within the Congress in Warangal East have resurfaced, with MLA and former minister Konda Surekha making strong remarks against her political rivals. She expressed anger over an allegation that some party leaders had prevented a member of her group from attending an administrative day programme at the Collectorate.

Speaking at a CM Relief Fund cheque distribution programme on Tuesday, Surekha alleged that some Congress leaders were harassing party workers. “I will not tolerate even a fly landing on our workers,” she warned. She also urged Congress leaders to exercise restraint in their remarks and warned of serious consequences if they crossed the line.

Her remarks that her women supporters would confront those making personal comments against her became a topic of political discussion. She said the women standing by her could take on those opposing her.

Congress circles are discussing whether Surekha’s remarks were directed at MLC Basavaraju Sarayya and KUDA chairperson Gundu Sudharani, who had recently criticised her. However, Surekha did not name anyone directly.

Referring to differences within the party, Surekha said some people were about to lose their posts while others had only recently assumed positions. She questioned who represented the “real Congress” and who represented a “duplicate Congress”, saying people were aware of the developments.

Her latest remarks have once again triggered discussion within the party amid continuing internal differences in the Warangal East constituency.
