Student Convicted For Circulating Child Sexual Abuse Material

HYDERABAD: A Pocso Fast Track Court in Medak sentenced a 20‑year‑old degree student from Toopran to one year of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 for circulating child sexual abuse material through a fake Instagram account.
The convict, Arige Shiva Kumar, was found guilty of creating a fake profile in another person’s name and using it to share obscene content involving children. Police launched an investigation after receiving information about the circulation of such material.
During the probe, officers examined the accused’s mobile phone and, with the assistance of the Cybercrime wing, traced the fake account using IP address details and other technical evidence. Based on the findings, Toopran police registered a case on May 12, 2026. The investigation was completed and a chargesheet filed before the court.
After hearing arguments presented by the prosecution and examining the evidence, Pocso Fast Track court Judge R.M. Subhavalli convicted Shiva Kumar and awarded him one year of imprisonment along with the fine.
Medak superintendent of police D.V. Srinivasa Rao said sharing, possessing or circulating child sexual abuse material is a serious offence and offenders would face strict legal action. He urged people to use social media responsibly and report any such illegal content to the police immediately.
