Revanth Reddy’s Promise on Dharmareddy Canal Fulfilled; Water Released
The canal starts from Musi at Sangem and end at the irrigation tank of Pedda Kaparthy in Chityal mandal, passing through 66km.
Nalgonda: Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy’s assurance for restoration of the Dharmareddy canal was fulfilled with the release of water to it for irrigation on Tuesday.
During his Musi river rejuvenation sankalpa padayatra from Sangem to Bhimalingam in Yadadri Bhongir district on November 8, 2024, the CM had promised to complete the restoration of Dharmareddy canal. Its work was pending for decades.
The project would provide irrigation facility to the farmers of Valigonda and Ramannapet mandals.
As a part of his promise, the state government sanctioned Rs 129 crore for restoration of the Dharmareddy canal and completed its works with considerable speed.

On Tuesday, government whip and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham released water to Dharmareddy canal at zero point in Valigonda.
He noted that getting irrigation water through the Dharmareddy canal was a decades-old dream of the people of Bhongir and Nakrekal assembly constituencies.
“As per the promise from CM Revant Reddy, the works of restoration of the canal were completed and water has been released to it. The Congress government has fulfilled the promise it made to the people of these assembly constituencies,” he stated.
