New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and discussed several key infrastructure projects related to the state.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister informed Gadkari that nearly 95 per cent of the land acquisition for the northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) has been completed. He requested the Union Minister for Union Cabinet's approval so that construction of the project could begin as early as possible. He also sought approval for the southern part of the RRR.

Revanth Reddy said that if construction of both northern and southern stretches of the RRR is taken up simultaneously, then it would help the state complete the project faster, and construction costs can be reduced.

The Chief Minister further requested Gadkari to approve the proposed Greenfield Highway connecting Hyderabad and Amaravati, as per Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He said the proposed 12-lane highway from Bharat Future City to Amaravati, with connectivity to Bandar Port, would reduce the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by nearly 100 kilometres.

Revanth Reddy also requested the Union Minister to help obtain forest clearances for the proposed Mannanur-Srisailam Elevated Corridor. He said the corridor would pass through the Nallamala Tiger Reserve and provide improved connectivity to the Srisailam Temple and the Srisailam Reservoir.

The Chief Minister also sought approval for a six-lane alternative highway between Hyderabad and Mancherial as an alternative to the existing Rajiv Rahadari. He assured the Union Minister that the Telangana government would undertake the required land acquisition for the project.

Nalgonda MP Raghuveer Reddy, Roads and Buildings Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Government Adviser and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary (Coordination) Advait Kumar Singh and other officials were present during the meeting.
