Regular NCD Surveys, Follow-Up Essential, Says Hyderabad DMHO

Hyderabad district medical and health officer (DMHO) Dr Putla Srinivas directed health officials and field staff to conduct regular surveys for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), identify beneficiaries and ensure continuous medical care and follow-up. He also instructed officials to regularly conduct NCD screening and ensure that suspected cases are entered online. Screening and registration of suspected cases should be increased and follow-up of identified beneficiaries should be carried out without fail.

The DMHO was speaking at a review meeting with programme officers, senior public health officers, medical officers of urban primary health centres (UPHCs) and basti dawakhanas, supervisory staff, women health workers and data entry operators at the Hari Hara Kala Bhavan auditorium in Secunderabad on Thursday.

Dr Srinivas said regular NCD surveys should be conducted and medicines required for beneficiaries should be made available. The DMHO directed health officials to focus on healthcare services for people living in slums and ensure continuous access to medical services. He also stressed the need to register pregnant women as soon as their pregnancy is identified and provide them with the required examinations and services. Dr Srinivas also directed officials to create awareness among the public about seasonal diseases and take preventive measures to prevent their spread.
