Ramchander Rao Dares Rahul, Revanth To Show One Deleted Genuine Vote

HYDERABAD: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Saturday accused the Congress of spreading a false narrative over the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll and charged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was continuing his “drama of lies” even after meeting President Droupadi Murmu. He urged BJP workers to expose the Congress’s campaign and explain to people the benefits of a clean electoral roll.
Addressing a meeting of party cell conveners, senior leaders, office-bearers and legal and media panellists here, Ramchander Rao alleged that the Congress was claiming that the President herself had admitted to “vote theft.” He said Gandhi had no evidence to support this claim and charged that the Congress was bent upon indulging the smear campaign against the Central government and constitutional bodies. He dared Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to show one genuine vote that was deleted during the SIR process.
The BJP leader reiterated long list of what he called the Congress’ history of “vote theft” and election rigging —colluded with Communists to defeat Dr Ambedkar in 1952; introducing booth-capturing at Begusarai in Bihar in 1957; suppressing independents and winning 61 seats unopposed in the 1967 Jammu and Kashmir elections and large-scale rigging in the West Bengal elections in 1972.
He also referred to the Rae Bareli election case of 1975 and alleged that after the Allahabad High Court set aside Indira Gandhi’s election, she extended Parliament’s tenure, curtailed the court’s powers and imposed Emergency.
Ramchander Rao questioned the registration of Sonia Gandhi’s name in the New Delhi electoral roll from 1980 to 1983 despite her not being an Indian citizen at that time; He said the Congress held elections in Assam in 1983 without revising the electoral roll; rigging the 1987 J&K elections with the National Conference; purchasing the support of JMM MPs during the no-confidence motion against the P.V. Narasimha Rao government in 1993. He alleged that the Congress was caught with thousands of fake voter ID cards in Rajarajeshwarinagar during the 2018 Karnataka elections and used the Election Commission for political gains and rewarded former CECs with posts after retirement. He claimed that the BJP, after 2014, had not given posts to any Election Commissioner and had protected institutional independence.
