Ramagundam: Elderly Couple Climbs Water Tank Protesting House Demolition
The couple climbed down from the water tank after officials assured them that alternative accommodation would be provided.
Ramagundam: An elderly couple protested by climbing a water tank for nearly two hours on Tuesday morning. The incident took place in Ashok Nagar of Godavarikhani.
The couple, identified as Mogili and Lakshmi from Yelkapalli village, reportedly took the step after municipal officials demolished their house.
According to reports, the couple had been living in the house for around 40 years. Municipal officials allegedly demolished the residence following a complaint from neighbours, who claimed that the house had no formal documents and had been constructed illegally. But the elderly couple claimed that they have been paying the electricity bills for the past few hours.
