Hyderabad:Hyderabad-based paediatrician Sivaranjani Santosh said the Indian Academy of Paediatrics has accepted her resignation, submitted nearly two months ago, enabling her to speak on concerns she had raised.

In posts on X, she said she stepped down as repeated concerns regarding the promotion of ORSL and the role of pharmaceutical companies in paediatric forums were not addressed.

“My resignation from IAP has been accepted. Now I can finally speak freely,” she wrote, adding that issues relating to promotion, conference presence and the “blurring of lines between science and marketing” remained unresolved.

She said she had questioned the presence and promotion of ORSL at medical conferences, including PEDICON, and alleged that no action was taken despite these concerns being raised.

Referring to statements by Kenvue, she said its products were showcased at conferences such as PEDICON, APICON, FMPC and RSSDI, and asked, “Where was the condemnation?”

Dr Sivaranjani called for a thorough investigation into the matter, stating that transparency was essential when issuing health-related guidance for children.

The development relates to concerns raised over industry influence in medical forums, with no response from the IAP cited in the statement.
