Hyderabad: Orange alerts have been issued for several districts with the maximum temperature expected to remain above 40°C over the next five days, and the mercury expected to touch 44°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS).

Nizamabad recorded the highest temperature in the state at 44.1°C on Sunday, followed by Adilabad and Kamareddy at 43.4°C. Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 42.1°C at Khairatabad, while the city’s average maximum temperature stood at 40°C.

According to TGDPS forecasts, temperatures are expected to remain above 43°C in parts of Nizamabad, Nirmal, Jagitial and Adilabad over the next two days. Hyderabad is likely to see temperatures between 38.7°C and 39.7°C during the same period.

Malakpet and Jubilee Hills recorded 42°C, Mehdipatnam and Amberpet recorded 41.8°C, and Secunderabad touched 41.4°C.

The weather department advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to heat during afternoon hours and take precautions against heat related illnesses.
