One-Way Traffic Around KBR Park Saves ₹3,000 Crore; Costly Flyovers Put on Hold: CM Revanth Reddy
He said he had personally visited the area twice without his convoy to examine the situation.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said he had personally monitored the traffic situation on the roads around KBR Park, where the introduction of one-way traffic had led to a plan to construct multiple flyovers and underpasses.
Revanth Reddy, speaking informally with the media in Delhi, said the state government had initially introduced one-way traffic as a temporary measure while planning flyovers to address congestion. However, the one-way system itself had emerged as an effective solution and had saved the government around ₹3,000 crore.
He said he had personally visited the area twice without his convoy to examine the situation. As the arrangement was convenient for commuters and saved public money, the government decided to put further development works on hold.
On Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase I, the Chief Minister said the state government had decided to take over the project following suggestions from the Centre and had entered into an agreement with L&T. The Indian Railway Finance Corporation had also cleared the loan, but vested interests obstructed the disbursal of the loan.
