CID Launches Search For Absconding Millers Based On Information Obtained From Satish
17 millers were untraceable following the circulation of message and were suspected to have gone into hiding: Warangal CID DSP Vasam Sampath
WARANGAL: The CID investigations into the alleged coarse rice scam have taken a significant turn, with the agency tightening its grip on rice millers accused of “selling fine-variety paddy allotted by the government in the open market and supplying cheaper coarse rice” in its place.
The detention of Katragadda Satish, the newly elected president of the Mulugu district rice millers association, by CID on Friday caused a stir in the district. Investigators suspect that a message posted by Satish in a WhatsApp group alerted other millers, prompting 17 of them to go into hiding.
Satish, a native of the Pasra area in Mulugu district, was recently elected as the association president. With the CID intensifying its investigation over the past few days and taking several millers into custody, officials suspect that Satish alerted other millers through the WhatsApp group.
Warangal CID DSP Vasam Sampath said 17 millers were untraceable following the circulation of message and were suspected to have gone into hiding. The information shared by Satish on WhatsApp hampered the investigations. Officials say questioning the absconding millers could reveal further irregularities.
