 Siddipet: Revenue, survey and land records departments have launched an inquiry into encroachment of government land near former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse in Erravelli, Markook mandal, Siddipet district. Notices have been issued to 220 persons who were cultivating crops on Survey No. 325, which covers 388.5 acres. Officials were tracing another 25 persons who are missing from the village.

Farmers have been called for an enjoyment survey, under which officials verify cultivation on government land and examine documents. So far, 180 notices have been served. A senior officer told Deccan Chronicle on condition of anonymity that the extent of government land, its use and encroachments in Survey No. 325 will be finalised soon. “We are facing tremendous pressure to discharge our duties,” the officer said. The survey is proceeding peacefully with cooperation from villagers and coordination among departments.

On the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on utilisation of government land, district collector K. Haimavathi formed four teams, which conducted a Differential Global Positioning Survey (DGPS) and demarcated the boundaries of the land.
