BGUS Slams Civic Bodies Over Battered Roads; Police Urge Dignified Immersion

HYDERABAD: The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) at a coordination meeting ahead of the Ganesh immersion proceedings, on Tuesday criticised civic authorities, saying the roads were in poor condition and accused them of limiting their responsibility to distributing clay idols without repairing the immersion routes.
City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar speaking at the event urged mandap organisers to maintain the dignity of the festival, warning against vulgar events at some pandals. He asked devotees to act responsibly and ensure no untoward incidents occur. The meeting was attended by civic and line department officials.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad police announced deployment of 465 additional personnel in two phases to ensure peaceful and safe idol immersions across the Commissionerate.
The force includes five ACPs, six inspectors, 18 SIs/RSIs, 99 ASIs/head constables, around 250 constables, 11 women constables and 74 home guards. Personnel were drawn from Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool districts, besides TGPA, PTC Warangal and Multi‑Zone‑II.
Cyberabad CP Dr M. Ramesh reviewed arrangements with senior officers and directed them to remain alert until all immersions are completed.
