Discipline, Perseverance Key To Clearing Civil Services: IAS Officer
IAS officer Pommala Sunil Kumar advised NIT Warangal students to focus on discipline, perseverance, planning and consistent effort for civil services.
Bengaluru North City Corporation commissioner and NIT Warangal alumnus Pommala Sunil Kumar, IAS, said discipline, perseverance, consistent effort and a clear goal were essential for succeeding in the civil services examination.
He was interacting with students at a “Talk on IAS Aspirants” programme held at Bose Hall in the Seminar Halls Complex of NIT Warangal on Monday night.
Sunil Kumar, an alumnus of the 2002 batch of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NIT Warangal, shared his journey from his student days to becoming an IAS officer.
He said aspirants needed a strong understanding of fundamentals, systematic planning, continuous awareness of current affairs, analytical abilities and communication skills to prepare for the civil services examination.
He said the civil services was not merely about clearing an examination but also about taking responsibility towards people, governance and public welfare. He advised students not to be discouraged by failures, but to learn from them and work towards their goals with proper guidance.
Dean T. Kishore Kumar, faculty members and NIT alumni attended the programme. More than 100 students, faculty members and staff participated.
