Adilabad:An Adivasi community family on Tuesday accused police of preventing them from conducting the last rites to their infant daughter, who died in RIMS fire earlier in the day.

When authorities were searching for the baby, who had succumbed to asphyxiation, the police contacted their counterparts in Indravelli, who confirmed that the family had taken the body their village. Following instructions, the police went to the village and brought the family members, including the baby’s parents Kumra Shekubai Dinesh back to RIMS along with the body to complete the medical procedures.

The family initially could not interact with minister Damodar Rajanarasimha because of a language barrier and were not allowed to meet him. The minister later met the family after Adivasi community leaders intervened and took Dinesh to him. The minister promised justice to the family.
