Nalgonda Gears Up for CM’s Varuna Yagam
A total of 108 rithwiks and Vedic scholars will perform the ritual using 11 homa kundams under the supervision of the Yadagirigutta temple authorities.
NALGONDA: The Nalgonda district administration has begun elaborate arrangements for the Varuna Yagam ritual to be performed at Nagarjunasagar on August 10 to invoke timely and abundant rainfall. The Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in the Purnahuti ritual at 3.45 pm on the day.
According to a release issued by the office of irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, temple priests and Vedic scholars from the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta selected August 10 as the auspicious date for the Varuna Yagam following the Chief Minister's suggestion.

District collector B. Chandrasekhar on Thursday inspected the venue and reviewed preparations with officials from the Revenue, Endowments and Police departments. He directed them to ensure foolproof arrangements for the event, which will also be attended by ministers, MPs and MLAs.
The collector instructed officials to set up the yagasthala, pravachana shala and barricades around the venue to facilitate the smooth conduct of the programme. He assigned responsibility for sanitation and cleanliness at Vijaya Vihara to Nandikonda municipal commissioner K. Koteshwara Rao and directed the police to make comprehensive security arrangements in view of the arrival of VVIPs and VIPs.
