Nagarjunasagar Gets Huge Inflows

Nalgonda:With three gates at Srisailam Project opened by 10 feet, the Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) in Nalgonda district is receiving a heavy inflow of 116,833 cusecs. According to 6 pm readings on Thursday, the water level stands at 541.20 feet against a full reservoir level of 590 feet.

The reservoir currently holds 190.8 TMC ft of its 312 TMC ft capacity. Outflows include 4,204 cusecs for power generation at the powerhouse and 1,500 cusecs to the AMRP canal, bringing total discharge to 8,906 cusecs. Authorities may begin releasing water into the NSP left canal once the water level reaches 540 feet and inflows remain high.

The irrigation department will review the situation at a meeting in Hyderabad on July 14 to decide on left-canal releases. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in Hyderabad has also raised the Musi Project’s water level to 641.5 feet (full reservoir level: 645 feet) and the Dindi Project’s level to 11.5 feet (full reservoir level: 36 feet).
