Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday said a Rs 3,296-crore Radial Road-2 tender scam was underway and demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy immediately cancel the tender.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Rama Rao alleged that some firms were “favoured and awarded contracts while lower bidders were disqualified.”
The project involves the construction of an 81.15-km greenfield expressway from the Outer Ring Road at Budvel to NH-167N near Kodangal.
The project was divided into three packages.
Questioning if the tender process was transparent and whether technical eligibility criteria were applied uniformly to all bidders, Rama Rao alleged that technical grounds were used to exclude certain companies while contracts were awarded to preferred firms.
The tender process and selection of contractors was completed in just around five working days.
How could 13 bids for a project of this magnitude be evaluated and processed in such a short time, Rama Rao asked.
KTR demanded disclosure of the complete financial details of all three packages, including estimated costs, quoted prices, comparative statements and final contract values, and demanded that the tender be cancelled.
