Hyderabad: Four CJP leaders from Hyderabad who were on their way to New Delhi were detained by Bhopal police in Madhya Pradesh on October 8.

Amid tight security, the police forced them to board the Telangana-bound Telangana Express back home during the intervening night of October 9 and 10, after keeping them in three different private guest houses in Bhopal.

According to the leaders, youth activists Stanley Korani, Rangasai Reddy, Rajesh Korapaka and Venkatesh Goud were shocked to find themselves rounded up by Bhopal police after their train arrived at Bhopal station on October 8.

“We were caught unawares and rounded up by dozens of waiting cops at the station.

They detained us unlawfully while we were on the way to Delhi to take part in a peaceful protest.

There were about 50 uniformed cops and some 20 in mufti, and without any prior notice they pulled us out of the train,” said Stanley, CJP’s south zone coordinator, who was leading the team.

Following detention, Stanley said the team was taken to a private guest house instead of a police station.

They were subjected to medical tests at around 3 am on October 9 and kept shifting from one guest house to another throughout their stay in Bhopal.

Meanwhile, the activists repeatedly questioned the police about the reason for their detention but received no answers.

“There were no answers to our questions as to why we were detained.

We were released only after we decided not to touch food or water until we got answers,” Stanley explained.

The activists boarded the train on the night of October 9, reached Warangal on Saturday morning and later arrived in Hyderabad by road the same day.
