Karimnagar Congress Leaders Demand CEC’s Resignation
Anjan Kumar condemned what he described as the illegal arrest of AICC leaders Rahul Gandhi: Reports
KARIMNAGAR: Congress leaders in Karimnagar demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during a day-long hunger strike at Indira Chowk on Saturday.
The ruling party activists staged the protest in support of agitations called by the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), seeking the CEC’s resignation.
Speaking at the protest, Karimnagar corporation president Vydhula Anjan Kumar said B.R. Ambedkar had ensured every citizen had the right to vote. He alleged that the BJP-led NDA government was denying people this constitutional right through vote and seat theft.
He further alleged that the Union government was misusing the Election Commission, an autonomous body, for political gains and protecting Gyanesh Kumar.
Anjan Kumar condemned what he described as the illegal arrest of AICC leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi and others while they were peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
