HYDRAA has erected a board stating that the land is protected by the agency.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) reclaimed a 361 sq. yds of parkland that had been encroached upon in Saroornagar’s Durga Bhavaninagar.

The park was part of a gram panchayat layout comprising 198 plots spread across Survey No.s 39, 42 and 46. Officials said that the land had been reserved for a public park. Plot owners on either side had been using the area for parking vehicles, while some had extended compound walls into the park land.

Residents complained to HYDRAA during the weekly Prajavani public grievances programme, after which authorities along with municipal and revenue officials inspected the site and confirmed that the park land had been encroached. Officials removed the encroachments, marked the park boundaries and installed boards identifying the land as a public park. Fencing was also put up around the site to prevent future encroachments.
