Around 15 members of the Osmania University Teachers Association (Contract) participated in the protest.

Hyderabad:Contract assistant professors of Osmania University protested near Gate 2 of Nizam College on Thursday, demanding Seventh PRC pay scales and job security before fresh recruitment notifications were issued.

The teachers also sought an ordinance to protect their services, as assurances made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in April 2025 remain unfulfilled, according to the association.

Around 15 members of the Osmania University Teachers Association (Contract) participated in the protest. “We are expecting an ordinance before the notification,” said Dr D. Thirupathi, vice-president of the association. He said the teachers hoped the government would take a decision at Thursday's Cabinet meeting. The protest cames after the state government cleared recruitment to 429 assistant professor posts across seven universities including 252 at Osmania University. According to the association, some contract teachers have served for nearly 30 years but their salaries have remained unchanged for nine years. Despite years of service, they continue without job security or financial benefits in the event of retirement or death.
