Hyderabad Becomes Fastest Growing GCC Hub in India

Hyderabad: Hyderabad has emerged as one of the fastest-growing Global Capability Centre (GCC) hubs in the country, attracting 197 GCCs in the last two-and-a-half years since the Congress government assumed office in Telangana in December 2023, according to data released by the Information Technology department. More than 70 GCCs chose Hyderabad in 2024, while 84 commenced operations in 2025. In the first half of 2026, 43 GCCs have already come forward to establish operations in the city, with several having already commenced operations. The number is expected to cross 100 by the end of 2026.

The rapid growth of GCCs marks a shift in the software and technology sector, which was once dominated by conventional IT companies. While IT firms generally undertake projects and provide software services to other businesses on a contractual basis, GCCs are captive centres established by multinational parent companies to meet their own business requirements, undertake research, develop products and drive innovation.

A growing number of companies setting up GCCs in India prefer Hyderabad. Though Bengaluru continues to have the highest number of GCCs, traffic congestion and other challenges there, coupled with Hyderabad's favourable business environment, skilled workforce and infrastructure, are driving companies towards the city, the report noted.

Hyderabad has particularly strengthened its position in banking and financial services. According to the Nasscom GCC Landscape Report 2026, more than 50 per cent of newly established BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) GCCs in India have chosen Hyderabad, making it the leading destination in the segment.

Existing GCCs are also expanding by taking up larger office spaces and increasing their employee capacity. Significant expansion has been recorded in life sciences, BFSI, semiconductors, engineering and digital services. Skilled human resources, world-class infrastructure and proactive measures taken by the Telangana government have helped make Hyderabad an attractive GCC destination.

Among the prominent developments in the first half of 2026, L'Oréal established its first GCC in India and its first Beauty Tech Hub in Hyderabad. US telecom major T-Mobile expanded its technology and engineering operations, while Novartis expanded its largest global operations hub outside Switzerland. Voya Financial expanded its technology and operations centre, while Astera Labs established a new engineering and product development centre, and Bluepace launched a new GCC.

Other global companies, including Zurich Insurance, Roche Diagnostics, ABB, BASF, Regeneron, Silicon Labs, Nestlé, Reckitt, Uber, Warner Bros. Discovery, American Airlines, InvoiceCloud, Omnicom and Maximus, have commenced or expanded operations, or are planning to establish operations in Hyderabad.

The city is attracting investments in AI, generative AI, life sciences, semiconductors, engineering R&D, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics and global business services. Multinational companies are increasingly choosing Hyderabad for advanced innovation, product engineering and global leadership functions.

The report said several companies are evaluating Hyderabad for setting up new GCCs and expanding existing centres in the second half of 2026.
