Adilabad: Heavy rains continued to lash various parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district on Friday, causing streams and rivulets to overflow.

Irrigation officials discharged 4,414 cusecs of water downstream by lifting one gate of the Kadam irrigation project at 9 p.m., while the inflow into the project was recorded at 5,983 cusecs. The water level in the project reached 695 feet.
Irrigation projects such as Kadam, Komaram Bheem, Mathadivagu, and Sathnala received significant inflows following the rainfall. Despite the drizzle in some areas, farmers were seen continuing agricultural operations in their fields.
In interior areas, people were seen crossing overflowing streams and rivulets to reach their villages during emergencies. However, road connectivity was affected in several villages of Chinthalamanepalli, Dahegoan, Penchikalpet, and Bejjur mandals in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.
The Penganga and Pranahitha rivers are also flowing high with rainwater in the Adilabad and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts. Officials in Komaram Bheem district have already issued alerts to people living downstream and along the banks of the Peddavagu stream.
