Hyderabad: Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday clarified that no requisition for land acquisition had been sent to the respective state governments for the proposed Hyderabad–Chennai, Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Pune high-speed rail corridors. The clarification came during a meeting with Union coal and mines minister G. Kishan Reddy to discuss the progress of the three proposed corridors.

Vaishnaw said any land acquisition being carried out in the name of the high-speed rail projects at this stage was illegal, as the railway ministry had not initiated the process. He said alignment studies for all three corridors were underway and that the proposed routes had not yet been finalised.

Once the alignments were finalised, the details would be shared with the respective state governments and farmers, he said.
