HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has summoned HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath for his contemptuous attitude to judicial directions and failure to respect orders of the court. Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the High Court expressed displeasure over the continuous contempt behaviour of the HYDRAA commissioner and issued Form-1 for the appearance of the official. The judge listed the matter on June 9.

The judge was dealing with a contempt case filed by Jitendra and others complaining of the wilful, deliberate and intentional violation of court orders by Ranganath with regard to the removal of a board that HYDRAA had installed, declaring that about 500-square yards of land in Plot N0s 103 and 104 in Survey No. 105 of Suraram of Quthbullapur mandal was park land belonging to the GHMC.

The board stated that the land was protected by HYDRAA. The claimants said that HYDRAA had installed the board despite the status quo orders issued in a petition over the title of the land between the government and the claimants.

When the claimants approached the court alleging HYDRAA`s high-handedness in unilaterally fixing the notice and taking possession of the land, after demolishing structures on the property, Justice Shravan Kumar on April 13 had directed the agency to remove the board within 48 hours. In spite of the orders, HYDRAA did not respond to it, the claimants said and approached the High Court with a contempt petition.
