Govt Sanctions Steel Flyover From J. Hills Junction To Muffakham Jah
Telangana government sanctioned a ₹1,090-crore steel flyover from Jubilee Hills Checkpost to Muffakham Jah College, scrapping earlier KBR Park flyover plans.
The state government on Tuesday officially approved the construction of a steel flyover from the Jubilee Hills checkpost junction to Muffakham Jah College, in the process scrapping the previous plans of multiple flyovers and underpases around the KBR Park. The flyover pass through KBR park junction, Mugdha junction and towards Muffakham Jah College, with a connecting ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1.
The new project is divided into two packages, with the first package from Jubilee Hills checkpost junction to Mugdha Junction, and the second package from Mugdha Junction to Muffakham Jah College, along with the connecting ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1.
A government order issued by the municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) department, stated that the new flyover was planned at a budget of `1,090 crore. The contract for the flyover was accorded to Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), the subsisting contractor.
The GO also cancelled the construction of the two flyover projects and an underpass project around KBR park, and changed the project scope of the rest of the projects. Cancelled were the proposed flyover at NFCL junction, and the flyover and underpass at TV9 junction. The contracts for the flyovers and underpass, issued to KNR Constructions Limited, would be revoked and the deposits refunded.
The previous flyover and underpass projects at Jubilee Hills checkpost, KBR park entrance and Mugdha junction were transferred to the first package of the new proposed flyover. The first package of the new project was sanctioned with a cost of `580 crores.
The flyover and underpass projects for Road No. 45 junction, Filmnagar junction, Maharaja Agrasen junction and Cancer Hospital junction were transferred to the second package of the flyover from Mugdha Junction to Muffakham Jah college and the connecting ramp. The government also asked GHMC to place the proposals with the revised scope of both packages of the proposed flyover in front of the third engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) committee.
