Nalgonda: An 11-year-old girl died after a sari being used as a swing tightened around her neck at Kaprayipalli village in Pochampally mandal of Yadadri-Bhongir district on Monday, police said.

The victim was identified as Puduta Tejasri, daughter of Shankar and Mamatha of Kaprayipalli. She was a Class VI student at the local government school.
According to police, Tejasri was swinging on a makeshift swing made by tying a sari to a ceiling rod inside her house when the cloth twisted and wrapped tightly around her neck. She lost consciousness due to suffocation and fell.
Her mother, who was at home at the time, noticed the incident and raised an alarm. Family members and neighbours rushed her to AIIMS, Bibinagar, but she died while being shifted to the hospital, police said.
On receiving information, Pochampally police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Area Hospital, Bhongir, for post-mortem examination.
