NALGONDA: Minister for irrigation and civil supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday directed officials to expedite paddy procurement and complete purchases at the earliest in view of the rain forecast.
During an inspection of a procurement centre at Phanigiri in Nagaram mandal of Suryapet district, he asked officials to speed up the process. He also announced that petrol bunks, solar power plants and buses for hire by TGSRTC would be sanctioned for women in the mandal under the ‘Mahila Shakti’ scheme. Mahila Shakti Bhavans would be constructed in all gram panchayats as part of efforts to support women’s economic advancement.
The minister said he would extend support to the Thungathurthi MLA for the development of the constituency.
Reviewing works at a model housing colony at Ramaswamygutta in Huzurnagar, he expressed dissatisfaction over delays and noted that there had been no significant progress since his visit in January. He said funds had been fully released through state allocations and local sources.
"With the sufficient funds available, why was the construction of these houses not yet been completed?" he questioned officials.
He warned that negligence in delivering housing for the poor would not be tolerated and directed officials to complete the works on a war footing and hand over houses to beneficiaries immediately.
Thungathurthi MLA Mandula Sameelu, district collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar and district civil supplies officer Mohan Babu were present.
