HYDERABAD: The GHMC has proposed restoration and renovation of Machili Kaman, the northern arch of Charkaman, located on Pathergatti Road near Charminar. The works, estimated at Rs 3.64 crore, will be funded by the HMDA. Last year, a chunk of plaster from Machili Kaman fell, raising safety concerns. Temporary repairs were carried out, but now the structure will undergo conservation works including measures for structural stability.

Machili Kaman is one of the four kamans leading to Charminar. While Machili Kaman to the north is being restored, Charminar Kaman lies to the south, Kaman‑e‑Sehar‑Batil to the west and Kali Kaman to the east. In addition, Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority has proposed illumination of all four Charkamans.
