Traffic Police Dispose Of 7,161 Cases Through Lok Adalat
Special drive clears thousands of pending traffic violation cases, with drunken driving accounting for the highest number of offences.
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad traffic police disposed of 7,161 pending traffic violation cases during a special Lok Adalat drive held between June 8 and June 20, providing speedy resolution of long‑pending offences and reducing the burden on courts.
The drive focused on cases of drunken driving, licence violations, minor driving, mobile phone usage while driving and other offences under the Motor Vehicles Act. Of the cases settled, drunken driving accounted for 3,804, licence violations 1,245, minors driving 1,042, mobile phone usage 381 and other offences 689.
Officials said the initiative enabled speedy adjudication of pending cases and encouraged compliance with traffic regulations. The disposal of a large number of cases through Lok Adalat helped reduce pendency and improve enforcement efficiency.
Traffic police appealed to motorists to strictly follow rules and avoid violations such as drunken driving, distracted driving and allowing minors to operate vehicles. They said public cooperation is essential for road safety, preventing accidents and maintaining smooth traffic movement across the city.
