Hyderabad: Expired food products, poor sanitation and multiple food safety violations were found during a joint inspection conducted by food safety officials at Dasara, a unit of Flagship Vibes Private Limited in Nagole on Friday. The establishment received a hygiene rating of 65 per cent. Officials issued a show-cause notice to the management under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, directing it to rectify the deficiencies within the stipulated period.

Officials from the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation’s food safety wing carried out the inspection as part of ongoing checks on food establishments and found damaged kitchen flooring with stagnant water at several locations, creating hygiene and safety concerns.

Officials seized and destroyed four packets of Balasa Punjabi Masala Papad and a 200-gram pack of Gold Crown Mustard Sauce after finding them beyond their expiry date.

The inspection also revealed that several food items were stored without proper covers, leaving them exposed to dust and flies. A large number of flies were found inside the kitchen, while kitchen walls and ceilings were found to be dirty and poorly maintained. Officials also observed an unclean refrigerator and food waste scattered on the floor.

The establishment was unable to produce mandatory Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) documents and a water analysis report during the inspection. Officials also found that some food items lacked mandatory labelling requirements. Food handlers were seen working without aprons and gloves, which officials said was a violation of food safety norms.
