Families Ask ASI Official to Decipher Copper Plate Inscriptions
The science branch of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hyderabad, copied the Rakatla copper plate after completing the chemical treatment. The inscriptions will be studied in detail to understand their historical importance.
Hyderabad: After an increased awareness about ancient inscriptions, two families from Ponnapalli in Guntur district and Rakatla in Anantapur district reached out to Dr K. Muniratnam Reddy, ASI (Epigraphy) director, on Friday requesting him to decipher and study two copper plate inscriptions that they have been holding for generations as part of the family legacy.

According to Dr Muniratnam Reddy, the Guntur inscription was written in Telugu script dating back to the 14th century, while the Anantapur inscription was written in Sanskrit using Nandanagiri script dating back to the 16th century.
