Elderly Couple Dies Of Electrocution In Devarakonda

NALGONDA: An elderly couple died of electrocution at Anjaiah Colony in Devarakonda of Nalgonda district on Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Mohammed Sofia Begum, 60, and her husband Davood Miya, 80.
According to police, Sofia Begum received an electric shock when she switched on a table fan at their house. Her husband caught hold of her while attempting to save her and also received an electric shock, resulting in the death of both.
Police said electricity had passed to the metal body of the table fan due to damaged insulation of its wire. The couple’s sons were residing separately in the town.
Devarakonda police reached the house after receiving information and shifted the bodies to the area hospital for postmortem examination. A case was registered and an inquiry was taken up.
