Windstorm Creates Panic In People In Bhadradri-Kothagudem

NALGONDA: A windstorm lasting for about an hour caused devastation at Morampally Banjara of Burgampadu mandal in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Wednesday evening. The Rajupeta bridge on the Akeru stream at Mulakalapally partially collapsed due to the heavy rain. Strong winds uprooted several trees and sent roof sheets flying and sent people scurrying for cover.

According to Telangana Planning Development Society (TGPDS) data, the highest rainfall of 73.8 mm was recorded at Tekumatla in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
Meanwhile, the state is bracing for another spell of heavy rain, with the IMD issuing a red alert for five districts on Thursday as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to cross the North Andhra Pradesh–South Odisha coast by Wednesday night.
Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem on Thursday. An orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanamkonda.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squally winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are also likely at isolated places in several northern and eastern districts.
Rain activity is expected to continue on Friday, with the IMD forecasting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal. An orange alert has been issued for 11 districts, including Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu.
In Hyderabad, preparing for Ganesh immersion festivities, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph over the next 48 hours. The city received 21.8 mm of rainfall on Wednesday.
