Suspicious Death of Nursing Student in Bhadradri-Kothagudem District
The victim’s relatives alleged that a youth living in the neighbouring house had been harassing her for about three years over starting a relationship.
Nalgonda: An 18-year-old B. Sc. (Nursing) student has been found dead under suspicious circumstances at Vengannapalem in Julurupadu mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district late on Tuesday night.
The victim had been the first-year student of a private nursing college staying at the college hostel at Konijerla near Khammam. She had left the hostel for her native village three days ago to attend the funeral rites of a relative.
The girl had been alone at home from around 3 pm on Tuesday after her mother left to visit a relative. When her mother returned in the evening, she found her daughter missing and began searching with the help of neighbours. They found the girl’s body near the bathroom at the rear of the house.

They said the girl had rejected his proposal and had been concentrating on her education. Village elders had earlier warned the youth after the girl’s mother complained about his alleged harassment. Now, the girl’s relatives suspected his involvement in the death.
Julurupadu police reached the spot and shifted the body to the area hospital in Kothagudem. A CLUES team has collected evidence from the scene.
Police sources said injuries have been found on the girl’s body, with blood in her nose and marks on the neck. There are indications of the girl being dragged along the ground for about a metre using her chunni.
Julurupadu circle inspector P. Srilakshmi said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report. A case has been registered and police are investigating. Sources said police have taken the neighbouring youth into custody and are questioning him.
